หลักการใช้ประโยค Passive Voice

Active Voice คือ รูปของกริยาซึ่งประธานเป็นผู้กระทำโดยตรง
              Mary eats a mango. (แมรี่รับประทานมะม่วง)   
       Passive Voice คือ รูปกริยาซึ่งประธานเป็นผู้ถูกกระทำกริยานั้น โดยผู้อื่นหรือสิ่งอื่น
              A mango is eaten by Mary. (มะม่วงถูกรับประธานโดยแมรี่)
        จะเห็นได้ว่า ใจความประโยค Active Voice และ Passive Voice นั้นมีความหมายอย่างเดียวกัน ผิดกันก็ตรงที่ประโยค Active Voice นั้น ประธานเป็นผู้ทำกริยา ส่วน Passive Voice นั้นประธานเป็นผู้ถูกกระทำกริยา
        กริยาที่จะทำเป็นประโยค Passive Voice ได้จะต้องเป็นกริยาที่เรียกว่า Transitive Verb คือกริยาที่ต้องการกรรมมารับ เช่น to love, to catch, to buy, to eat, to see, etc. ส่วน Intransitive Verb ซึ่งหมายถึงกริยาที่ไม่ต้องการกรรมมารับ เช่น to run, to walk, to go, to fly, to awim, etc นั้นจะทำให้เป็น Passive Voice ไม่ได้

Comparison of Adjective (การเปรียบเทียบคำคุณศัพท์) เป็นการเปรียบเทียบคุณลักษณะต่าง ๆ ของ คน สัตว์ และสิ่งของตั้งแต่ 2 อย่างขึ้นไป

การเปรียบเทียบมี 3 ระดับคือ
•    ขั้นธรรมดา Positive Degree
•    ขั้นกว่า Comparative Degree
•    ขั้นสูงสุด Superlative Degree

ขั้นธรรมดา เป็นการเปรียบเทียบความเท่าเทียมกันมีรูปประโยคดังนี้
As + adjectives + as
•    Apple is as delicious as pineapple.
•    Mrs. Pisamai is as beautiful as Mrs. Supatra.
•    Mr.Puang is as tall as Mr.Daeng.

ประโยคในข้อใดเป็นการเปรียบเทียบเท่ากัน
•    John is tall.
•    Johe is as tall as Jim.
•    John is taller than Jim.
•    John is the tallest.

ประโยคในข้อใดถูกต้อง
•    Tony is as shorter as Tom.
•    Tony are as short as Tom.
•    Tony is as short as Tom.
•    Tony is as not short as Tom.

ขั้นกว่า เป็นการเปรียบเทียบระหว่างคำนาม 2 สิ่งมีรูปประโยคดังนี้
คำคุณศัพท์ (Adjectives) เติม er + than more + คำคุณศัพท์ (Adjective) + than
Math is more difficult than English.
The car is faster than the mortorcycle.
The boy is taller than the girl
The tiger is more dangerous than the dog.

ให้เลือกคำที่ถูกต้อง
1.    Lions are______________than rabbits.
a.    big
b.    more big
c.    bigger

ขั้นสูงสุด เป็นการเปรียบเทียบขั้นสูงสุด ใช้ในการเปรียบเทียบที่มากกว่า 2 สิ่งขึ้นไป นิยมใช้ the นำหน้ามีรูปประโยคดังนี้
The + คำคุณศัพท์ (Adjectives) เติม –est the + most + คำคุณศัพท์ (Adjectives)
The elephant is the biggest of all.
The tiger is the most dangerous of all.

ให้เลือกคำที่ถูกต้อง
1.    Look at the pictures answer the questions.
      a.    The hen is bigger than the lion.
      b.    The lion is smaller than the pig.
      c.    The pig is the smaller than the lion.
      d.    The lion is the biggest of all.
2.   The tiger is _________of all.
      a.    The dangerous
      b.    The more dangerous
      c.    The dangerouser
      d.    The most dangerous.

กฎการเปลี่ยนแปลงคำคุณศัพท์ ให้อยู่ในรูป Comparative และ Superlative Degree
1.    Adjective ที่เป้นคำพยางเดียว ให้เติม –er ในขั้นกว่า และเติม –est ในขั้นสูงสุด


2.    Adjective ที่เป็นคำพยางเดียว มีสระตัวเดียว ให้เพิ่มพยัญชนะตัวท้ายอีกหนึ่งตัว แล้วจึงเติม –er ในขั้นกว่า และเติม –est ในขั้นสูงสุด เช่น

3.    คำที่ลงท้ายด้วย e อยู่แล้วให้เติมเฉพาะ –r  และ –st เช่น

4.    คำที่ลงท้ายด้วย y ให้เปลี่ยนเป็น I แล้วเติม –er และเติม –est ในขั้นที่สุด

5.    คำคุณศัพท์ที่มีหลายพยางค์ให้เติม more ในขั้นกว่าและเติม most ในขั้นที่สุด
